In Memory of John Burg, Ruud Training and Technical Support 1944 - 2024
It is with a sad heart that I let you know we said goodbye to an industry legend today. John Burg passed early this morning in the presence of his family.
Almost 20 years ago, John sold his contracting business and began his “retirement” career in tech support at Century. During the time he spent with us he brought smiles and joy to all he encountered.
In the early days at Century, John was the entire Training and Tech Support department for all of Texas and Century’s sister company, Air Management, in the Midwest. Today those same responsibilities are shared by 7 people, which speaks volumes to John’s trailblazing prowess.
In recent years John traded climbing into hot attics on job sites for the classroom and lab. Technicians and contractors alike enjoyed John’s easy teaching style and in-the-trenches accounts of his own experience and even misadventures. With students John had a magical way of making folks feel encouraged about doing things in a better way instead of making them feel wrong.
Always quick with a smile and a welcoming handshake, Century had no better ambassador than John Burg. He was known and beloved across the industry and Century was blessed to have him share his time and talent with us.
To honor John and his contributions to our industry, Century is dedicating the hands-on training lab to John Burg. A formal ribbon cutting ceremony will take place in the months to come.
While no one can fill his shoes, those of us in the Training and Tech Support department will strive to continue his legacy. Vaya con Dios John Burg. You are greatly loved and will be sorely missed.
